My two cents about everything!

Haulage…..Part 2! May 2, 2010

Here is another Haul for ya…..

I bought these products at Longs Drugs (aka CVS):

Duo eyelash adhesive in Dark tone: (on sale!!) $ 4. 19(USD).  Original price $ 5. 29 (USD).  I have the original Duo, which dries clear, but I heard that Duo in Dark tone is much better.  For one: it dries quicker than the clear duo for some odd reason. And two:  since it dries dark most likely I won’t need to retouch my eyeliner.  Here are some swatches.

I don’t remember how long it took to dry, but I don’t think it was that long.

When the glue is wet it looked a little gray and when it dried it looked really dark.

NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Dark Brown/Brown:  $ 2.99(USD)

I love love this product!  The wax (white dot) is super creamy and your hair stays put.

This was featured in my April Winnas and Losers.  If you want a swatch of the eyebrow colors, please watch my youtube video, click here.

NYX Jumbo Eye and Lip pencil:  $ 3.49 (USD)

NYX Jumbo eye pencil in French Fries

I’m super excited to finally purchase some NYX products.  These pencils are super creamy.

Black Bean

Dark Brown

NYX Lip pencil in Natural

I’m kinda excited about his lip pencil.  This is my FIRST LIP PENCIL ever.  I’m a gloss kind of girl, but I’m starting to use lipsticks.

NYX Smokey Eyes palette:  $ 8.99 (USD)

Best palette ever!!!!

This was worth every penny!  Sorry, the photo above is with flash and the photo under is without flash.

This is pretty much true to color.  Super pigmented, very blendable.

Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume in Very Black:  $ 6.48 (USD).  I picked this up at Walmart.  As you can tell, I couldn’t wait to use it!

I have the Define-A-Lash in Length (which is in green tube, also in the color Very Black).

It’s waterproof and never flakes.

The wand is made out of rubber and very flexible.

These are also featured in my April Winnas and Losers.

Kay…’s official….this is my last entry till after finals.  Wish me luck.  If you have any questions about the products above….go ahead and ask.

EOS Review April 28, 2010

I’m super excited to finally find these in Hawaii.  If you want to pick some up, I found mines at Walgreens for 2 for $ 6.00(USD).  There was only two flavors on the shelves, so I purchased Summer Fruit and Honeysuckle Honeydew.

Honeysuckle Honeydew

Love, love this smell!  It reminds me of a Melon Soda from the Asian Market.  As you can tell, the shape is very unique, like an egg.  It’s really not too big.  Here are some comparison photos.

EOS, which stands for the Evolution Of Smooth, are 95% organic and 100% natural.

Summer Fruit

I can’t pin-point the smell exactly, but to me it smells a little Dragonfruit, strawberry. and Acai berry.

  • Long lasting moisture
  • slight smell–not over-powering at all
  • Slight to no taste
  • cute packaging.  Very unique.
  • Packaging is very durable.  (Scroll down for evidence)
  • Shea Butter and Vitamin E
  • Organic
  • Petrolatum and Paraben Free
  • Not tested on animals.
  • No shine (this could be a con, depends how you like your lip balm)

  • Packaging is kinda rubber (but this doesn’t bother me…it might bother others.  Also, it doesn’t smell rubbery, thank goodness!)
  • Can’t carry it in your pant’s pocket.  It will bulge out.  Not cute at all.
  • No shine

FYI:  I have a 2 year old Beagle name Sumo.  I love her, but sometimes she does things to make me mad.  I don’t know how she got a hold of my Honeysuckle, but she thought it was her chew toy.

But I was shocked to find out that EOS packaging is super duper strong.

And trust me, Sumo was trying to bite this.  And she bites hard….trust and believe me!  LOL.

But look at it….the lip balm is perfect!

I rate this 5/5.  I’m going to buy backup for these.  I hope they bring more flavors to O’ahu….but only time will tell.  You guys should pick this up and hurry….last time I went to Walgreens it was all sold out.

Loot, Cargo, whatevas….Part 1 April 25, 2010

Filed under: Make UP — houseofjenic @ 4:27 pm

Haul, loot, cargo, load…whatever you want to call it.  I went into my local Longs Drugs (aka CVS) during the weekend.  A stressful Jen + CVS + spare time= Shopping!  Let’s just say I went a little overboard.  I guess my craziness is your gain…lol…here is a sneak peak on the products that I will eventually do a review on.  If there is anything here you want me to do a review now, let me know, you can comment down belew or email me (  Now on to the payload!

Red Cherry fake eyelashes:  $ 1.59 (USD) each

FYI:  All Red Cherry are made with Human Hair.  These particular pair has a clear band.  Here is a closer look.

These pair looks fuller, but I think they look pretty natural.  Like the # 42, these pairs also on a clear band.  I’ve never wore clear banded fake eyelashes before, I hope I like it.

Unlike the other two, # 1 are more fuller and on a black band.

I bought single lashes since it was cheap ( $ 1.59).

NYX Fabulous Lashes (# EL 123) and glue ($ 4.99 USD)

These look pretty sassy, I might end up love it.  Unlike the Red Cherry brand, the NYX band is lightly thicker and blacker.  And I’m not too sure if these are made with real human hair. Maybe because NYX included the lash glue it’s more expensive then the Red Cherry, but these lashes are on the pricey side.

I’ve been looking for NYX products for months now.  In Hawaii, sometime we don’t get things.  I think it’s because sending it to here is too expensive.  So, when I found out my local Longs Drugs was selling these, I knew I had to buy one!  NYX The Runway Collection in Versus (ESP10C07) cost $ 8.99 (USD).  NYX For your eyes only in Mysterious Brown Eyes cost $ 8.99 (USD).

I thought this clip was pretty interesting.  It’s a Japanese brand, so I don’t know what it’s called exactly.  I’ve tried it a couple of times and I dig it.  I have really thick heavy hair and it held my bang back all day.

These clips cost $ 3.39 (USD).

I really need small hairbands to put my hair up in a side braid ponytail.  Cindy’s latex bands comes in a pack of 250 and only cost $ 1.19 (USD).  You could probably find something cheaper at Sally’s Beauty Supplies, but since we don’t have a Sally’s in Hawaii, this is a cheap find.

I wore it a couple of times.  It does have a strong rubber smell, but since it was so small and in my hair, you can’t really smell it.

Don’t let the same size fool you, these rubber bands can stretch.  I love these little rubber bands, it kinda reminds me of those tiny band for your braces (which I never had…man I wish I did).  The only downside to this rubber bands is that it’s one-=time use.  When you take it off, the rubber band becomes out-stretched, so you can’t re-use them at all.  But it’s still a good product and so cheap.  Who cares if you only have one use of it, you have 249 more!

I’m in LOVE with this lip gloss.  It’s the NYC lip tin in color Sugar Coated ( 509A).  After watch my all-time favorite make up youtube guru, Holly Ann Aeree, she claimed that this was a perfect dupe for MAC Boy Bait Cremesheen.  Check out the video, click here.  And after that, you can visit her website by clicking here.

Without Flash

It smells heavenly.  To me, it smells like Cotton Candy bubble Yum Gum.  And it comes in this small sliding tin.  This cost only $ 2.99 (USD) compared to a MAC cremesheen, which is about $ 18.00 (USD).

My doggie, Sumo, who loves chewing on combs and brushes, decided to chew up my last comb.  The reason why I bought this was because the toothcomb looked pretty interesting.  It kinda reminded me of a shark’s tooth.

I also liked that it is a duel-ended comb.

And did I mention that it’s Microban.  Which means that this plastic is antimicrobial.  And it only cost $ 3.29 (USD)….what a steal!

Well, that’s pretty much it for my pirates booty!  I have a second one coming up pretty soon.  Hopefully it will be up by next weekend.  Alrighty……I’ll catch you guys laters!

Kim Kardashian Glow April 18, 2010

I’m in love with this product.  If you want a Kim Kardashian inner glow look….this should be in your arsenal.

I found the key to getting this glow.  First things first…you need to find a cream blush that looks like a light pinky color on your skin.

Mark Just a pinched is perfect for me.  Actually this blush is sometimes too shear.  I had to swatch this over and over again.

I paid $ 7 (USD) and it’s pretty small.

With any cream blush you should either pair with a regular blush or a translation powder.  I like to pair mines up with a MAC blush in Pink Swoon.

I packed on the color, so it would show up on the camera.  But honestly, you can totally sheer it out, if you wanted too.

  • Fool-Proof
  • Very Shear
  • Slight smell….good smell, kinda sweet.
  • Can be wear alone or with something
  • Very buildable

  • Kinda expensive ($7 USD) for an inch of product
  • Slightly sticky when applied on the skin
  • You need a Mark Representative to order this product

I rate this 4/5.  I really love this product.  I just wish there was more of the product!  If you would like to order this product, check out  It’s called Just a Pinched in the color Cheeky!

Revlon ColorBurst in Baby Pink April 15, 2010

I previously purchased Revlon ColorBurst in Barely Nude and I was pleasantly surprise.  So I decided to purchases another one.  After looking at the selection, I decided to to pick up the Baby Pink from Target for $ 8.49 (USD).

The ColorBurst line is awesome!  I love the color pay-off and how creamy it looks on my lips.

The color on top of the lipstick is very true to color inside the tube.  Although, I was expecting more of a matte look, this lip color actually looked a little between a frost and lustre finish.  This color is not my favorite, but I still LOVE this lipstick line.

  • No Smell
  • Cute packaging.  One side is quilted and other side smooth matte.  And each lipstick has a color swatch on top of the cap.
  • Goes on smooth
  • Doesn’t look drying on the skin

  • Lustre finish, I was expecting more of a matte finish.  But if you like Lustre, than this would be a pro.
  • The color is not my cup of team but still a pretty color.
  • Kinda pricey for a drugstore lipstick.  You can get a MAC lipstick for like $14-&15 (USD).

I give this lipstick 4/5.  If the color was more flattering on my face, then I would’ve gave it a 5/5.  When this goes on sale, I’ll be the first on to buy many, many, many more!

How’s my Zoolander…..pretty big FAIL, if I do say so myself!  Haha.

NYC Custom Compact in Blue Eyes April 14, 2010

Filed under: Make UP — houseofjenic @ 3:11 pm

The NYC Custom Compact ($ 4.49-USD) is the newest thing to hit the Target shelves.  As you can tell, the compact is determined by your eye color.  When I was at Target all colors were available, except for the Brown eyes.  Geees, I wonder why….lol.  Well, considering I live in Hawaii, most people have Brown Eyes.  But that didn’t stop me, I still picked up the Blue and Green compact.

Inside the palette, you get a primer, illuminator, and four different colors.

The Primer is smooth.  I find it easier to use my finger than the brush.  I found that the heat from my finger makes the Primer easier to work with.  It evened out my skin tone and I found the color much lighter than MAC Painterly paintpot (which is my eye Primer of choice.)

I found the Illuminator pointless.  When applied, it looked chalky and the shimmer was too white for my skin tone (which is cool tone, with a hint of yellow).  I found the illuminator easy to wipe off.

All the colors were very blendable, smooth, and easy to pick up on a brush.  I’m in love with the purple color, which is the fourth color from the top of my arm.  Majority all all the colors are matte, except the All over lid and highlighter.  Another great thing about this product is that there was no fall out.

In my opinion, this palette can be used by people with brown eye color because of the purple.  I was shocked to find the color purple in this Blue eye palette.  Because the color purple works really well for Brown Eye gals.

  • Very Blendable
  • No fall out
  • Eye shadows have matte and shimmer products
  • Easy to pick up by a brush
  • cheap
  • nice packaging
  • Easy to wash off
  • Great Purple color

  • Primer and Illuminator needs to be warmed up with fingers in order to work
  • Illuminator is pointless….too shinny  and serves no good purpose

Honestly, it’s not a bad product.  I think if you are beginning in make up, this is a great product to check out.  But for some of us, who has been in the make up game for a while, it’s kinda a waste of money.

I give it a 3/5
